Since Val’s sad passing in 2017 interest in her life and work continues unabated. Americans and Canadians especially have formed a fascination for her mad cap drawings; the eccentricity of her work has earned her a huge fan base over the pond.

She was a life changing woman to know and the child-like innocence of her drawings has a global appeal. Val loved animals; she had a raw connection with them and an insight to their souls that set her far above most other artists in this field. This insight was true of her relationships with people too although I’m not sure she ever realised it, that’s why she was, and remains so special.
