Richard Thorn (born 1952)

Trained at Newton Abbot School of Art, Richard has been painting for over 20 years, specializing in watercolour. Having lived for most of his life in and around Torbay he has committed the area's most picturesque coastline to paper in sublime fashion making the sun dance across water like no other. In addition he has enjoyed sojourn's in Spain and Venice from which he created equally emotive compositions in hot Mediterranean tones to great effect.

Richard is by no means your average 'local artist'; he has amassed an international following through successful one-man shows in galleries across the country including London and the Home Counties for his undoubtedly gifted use of this most difficult medium. Whether he is painting children gallivanting in the surf on a sun drenched beach or Cornwall's dramatic rocky coastline, Richard's distinctive style works.

When not hard at work in his studio, Richard can be found playing jazz guitar in many of the area's music venues.
