Tony Forrest has been a professional artist for over 30 years. During his career he has travelled the world, going to many inspiring places, including the magical Venice.
Tony has been living in Cornwall for 21 years and has always been fascinated by the rugged scenery and particularly the quaint working harbours, one of the chief inspirations being the play of light and the water reflections surrounding the colourful old fishing boats together with the moody colours in the Cornish skies.
Tony has never tired of capturing the magical light in Cornwall, be it Mevagissey, Mousehole, St.Ives or anywhere else. Technicalities are of less importance; he is more interested in the atmosphere of the place and the visual excitement of the moment. Painting in oils or acrylics, Tony loves the richness and vibrant colours of the paint and the best quality pigments afford him the colour and depth that he craves. The textures created with thick paint are also an important part of the process, giving a tactile feel to the finished work.
With a background in technical art, Tony has a certain attention to detail but never wishes to let this take over from what is a portrayal of a place in time - a fleeting moment that he witnessed. That moment is just a starting point for artistic creativity and something that hopefully can be enjoyed by others who see the paintings.
